Invisible Braces

Invisible braces, such as clear aligners, are a discreet orthodontic treatment option designed to straighten teeth without visible metal brackets or wires. They are custom-made from transparent plastic, making them less noticeable than traditional braces.
Patients wear a series of aligners that gradually shift teeth into alignment, with each set worn for about two weeks before progressing to the next.

What is it?

Invisible braces, also known as clear aligners, are orthodontic devices used to straighten teeth without the use of traditional metal braces. They are made of transparent, medical-grade plastic and are custom-designed to gradually shift teeth into their desired position.

Whats included

  • Customization: Aligners are custom-made for each patient based on their dental impressions or digital scans.
  • Removability: Aligners can be removed for eating, drinking, and oral hygiene maintenance, offering greater flexibility compared to traditional braces.
  • Transparent design: Made from clear plastic, invisible braces are less noticeable than metal braces, making them a popular choice for adults and teens concerned about aesthetics.
  • Treatment monitoring: Regular check-ups are scheduled to monitor progress and ensure the aligners are effectively moving the teeth towards their intended position.

What happens?

During the process, the dentist or orthodontist first takes impressions, scans, or photographs of the patient’s teeth to create a 3D digital model. Using this model, a series of custom aligners are fabricated, each slightly different to guide the teeth incrementally towards the desired alignment. Patients typically wear each set of aligners for about two weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss. As they progress through the series, their teeth gradually move into alignment according to the treatment plan.

Quick tip

  • If your dentist gives you advice about daily dental care like teeth brushing techniques and how often you should floss, write it down. It takes time to build a new habit – some say 21 days or more. In the meantime, here’s a handy idea. Stick your note about your new dental care routine on your bathroom mirror as a daily reminder.
